The Year of The Frog

by Nina — September 12, 2008 @ 12:05 pm

Did you know that 2008 is the year of the frog? That’s right, zoos all over the world are celebrating frogs this year because these fantastic creatures are currently facing the threat of mass extinction. Many of the most diverse species of frogs call Australia home. And sadly, each year a number of these species disappear.

But the GDJ team and Zoos Victoria recently joined forces to educate zoo-goers on how to help save the frogs through an interactive adventure campaign for the September school holidays. We’re asking everyone to come down to Melbourne Zoo these holidays and join the search party to find ‘Laurie the Frog’. Armed with a pair of 3D goggles, there’ll be clues for you to decipher and activities along the way with plenty of opportunities to talk to the experts and learn all about water conservation and the environment.
