‘Bono’ Rocks Zoo Twilights
A handful of us from Grant Day James were lucky enough to go along to a recent Zoo Twilights evening featuring ‘Achtung Baby - The U2 Show‘ at Melbourne Zoo. A perfect 26 degrees, one incredible sunset and the sound of birds roosting in the background set the scene for an amazing show. We arrived just on dusk for pre-dinner drinks before being served a sensational selection of food from Liberty Catering.
Decked out in tight black leather, the U2 cover band certainly looked the piece with their very own Bono even alternating his shades throughout the evening as they played hits from the various U2 eras. They kicked off with some classic U2 ballads to get the audience warmed up and before we knew it the crowd was up off their picnic rugs dancing to hits, including ‘Desire’ and ‘Sweetest Thing’. It was difficult to sit still.
Bono ventured off stage to work the crowd in signature style, even making his way over to the VIP tent where he offered GDJ designer Holly the microphone to sing a line or two. The fantastic food and hits kept coming until, after two powerful sets, Bono said goodnight, we thanked the guys from Zoos Victoria for an unforgettable evening and everyone made their way home.
